Extra Wallet:
Dont throw away you expired credit cards! Usually when you renew your drivers license, they punch a hole in your old one. Keep them and put them into a wallet. Carry that with you while travelling in unfamiliar territory.
Floor Mat recovery System:: I read this in a magazine once. if you get stuck in the
mud, u can use you floor mats since one side is full of little knobs( stinks to wash it after but atleast your out).

Magnet:
This is a handy one. They are cheap and can be purchase in any size. Great for when you loose that special bolt in the sand or snow. Plus you can just stick it under the hood and know itll be there when you need it.
Cheap Water Supply:
I took an old fire extinguisher and filled it with water. Great for a quick rinse to get the days dust off. Makes for a good reserve for radiator water and can put out class A fires(non electric or flammable liquids).
Wheres my wrench?:
A great way to keep track of all your wrenches is to put them all on a Carabiner. I do this and everytime Im on the trail and help someone out, they always comment on this idea. I paint mine orange to be able to spot them easily when in the dark or off the carabiner.
Coffee Filters:
Another item I like to carry is a few coffee filters. I put them in the glove box. Great for using to filter water before putting lake water in your radiator.
Chain Link Fence:
Usually a couple rolled up pieces of chain link fence can make for an easy way out. Ive seen people rip shrubs and cut tree branches; all just to stuff under a stuck tire. Simply unroll the fence and slowly drive over it. I use two pieces 2ft by 3ft.
Snow mobile Track:
This one is from a reader. He says that old used snow mobile track works great to get your self unstuck, same as the chain link above. He just cut it to size and keep it rolled up inside the bed.
Dirt Jack:
I really dont like using this, but its a good idea if your stuck in the middle of nowhere without a jack. Hopefully everyone reading this is smart enough, but you never know-LOL. Anyway, if your in a REAL jam and have a flat without a jack, jam a rock under your differential. Once thats done, start digging under the flat tire. You can dig a hole large enough to change the tire, just make sure to fill in the hole when your done.
Old Seat Belts:
These make great tie downs. I had a buddy that lined the side of his bed with these and used them to tie things in place. Can be used to hold anything from extra gas cans to extra axles.
Bailing Wire and Cutters: I never go bush without a roll of galv. tie wire and a pair of end cutters. Great for lots of odd temporary repairs. I once had a battery terminal that gave out on me. Looked ok from the top, but it lifted off like a cup, leaving a little knob behind. I wedged it down with a lump of wood and secured it with a few turns of tie wire, using a small screwdriver as a tournequet. Enormous pulling and holding power. I got us back home over a few hours of very rocky road. regards Bill in Australia.
